Press Release (26 November2007)Cabinet Secretary Interested In Farm Waste CollectionAfter his “head to head” debate with NFU Scotland’s Jim McLaren, Rural Affairs Cabinet Secretary Richard Lochhead toured some of the stands in the main hall. By all accounts, he was impressed with the scale of the event. He spent some time questioning Solway Recycling Managing Director Roy Hiddleston on the collection and processing of waste plastic from farms. Earlier, Solway had won The Scottish Farmer award for best new product with a calf pen unit manufactured from re-cycled plastic. Mr Lochhead was particularly interested in the number of farms using the National Farmers Waste Service and how farmers were complying with the new waste regulations.
