AgriScot Delivers on Business

Scotland’s farm business event AgriScot delivered in no uncertain fashion on its advance publicity claim that it was bigger and better than ever. With record trade stands, record crowds and record business the order of the day, the Bank of Scotland Corporate sponsored event has undoubtedly established itself as one of the U.K’s most popular fixtures for farmers and trade.

There was a distinct buzz at the Royal Highland Centre with many stands reporting
genuine business and firm orders. For the trade, any agricultural event is a platform for sales enquiries, but this time it was the order books rather than the contact books that were filling up.

Although there were features for the crowds to focus on, such as virtual judging and a comprehensive feed mixing demonstration, farmers seemed to spend more time touring the various trade stands seeking advice and information on services, products and equipment.

AgriScot Management Committee Chairman Robin Young reported: “We had a team of trade stand stewards going around gauging reaction and opinion and the majority view was that the 2007 AgriScot was the best yet for business.

“Farmers we spoke to all said they appreciate coming to an event where they can find everything - literally from a teat cup to a tractor -  at one location and all under cover.
What’s more, the free admission and free parking are added incentives.

“Since we changed tack in 2001 from being a specialist dairy show, we have seen a steady expansion in our business credentials. We seem to have hit the right formula and that will continue to drive our plans for the event.”
