Two of Scotland's leading dairy farming families ruled supreme at AgriScot 2012 securing both the SuperHeifer and SuperCow titles.
The event which was again hailed as a roaring success having attracted one of the best ever shows of dairy cattle first saw the SuperHeifer go to an Ayrshire from Gilmour Lawrie and son Kevin's dairy unit at Prestwick.
There were more celebrations to come for the Lawries later in the day too when the prestigous SuperCow trophy was presented to a Red and White, a joint entry from Brian and Michael Yates, East Logan, Castle Douglas, and the Lawries.
The overall quality of the dairy cattle on show was what most impressed judge, John Gribbon who selected the champions as well as the inter-breed winner; 'This has been the best show of dairy cattle in the UK by a long, long way. I have judged cattle all round the world and this has been a world-class show. There are a lot of shows around the world that should take a leaf out of the organisation of this event.'
One of the big attractions of the dairy competition at AgriScot is the £1,000 cheque that comes with each of the SuperHeifer and SuperCow awards if they have been sired by one of the breed sponsoring companies.
The 2012 Interbreed SuperCow Champion was Yates & Lawrie's Dilandy Debonair Tabitha Red Et, sired by World Wide Sires.
